August 6, 1936. The bottom of a shaft on West Towns outlet sewer section 2 shows how the rail car tracks diverge around the center support so that two rail cars can be raised or lowered at the same time. The two struts in the right pass, not normally in place, provide support for the structure above. In addition to the two hoists for rail cars, a man lift is out of view in the side of the shaft.
