Looking north on September 5, 1900, at the crossing for the Eight-Track bridge. This view shows the three temporary timber trestles crossing the channel to allow continuous railroad travel while construction proceeds for the interim through-truss bridges. The outer trestles are for train traffic, while the center trestle is for construction of the through-truss bridges. The large building in the left background is the McCormick Reaper Works.
